Miriam Walker-Khan, 27, is a freelance French-speaking journalist, reporter and presenter working mainly at BBC Sport. She is also a freelance reporter with Premier League Productions. Miriam writes for gal-dem magazine and has written pieces for Guardian Opinion, Dazed magazine and the IAAF. In 2021, she was nominated for the Ones to Watch (on-air) Sports Journalism Association award. She was the only sports journalist to be nominated for the Outstanding Young Journalist award at the Asian Media Awards in 2018 and 2019. In nearly four years at the BBC, Miriam has gained experience live reporting, presenting the Women's Sport show on Radio London, writing, podcast-making, live-reporting and producing across TV, radio and digital platforms. As well as sport, she has worked on projects for Newsround, the World Service, The Next Episode podcast and BBC Africa Sport.
Miriam is currently the co-Chair of BBC Sport’s BAME Advisory Group. In 2020, she became the first BBC Sport representative to get a place on the BBC News Next Generation Panel. Miriam is originally from Sheffield but currently based in London.
